For this unit, students are investigating environmental issues and creating a diorama that suggests a way to protect the local stream erosion issues. Although I liked the diorama idea, I would've tried to use art a bit more throughout if teaching this unit. Once kids gain a good understanding of environmental issues, art is a great way to express their feelings of discontent or spread awareness. I would like to integrate noteworthy environmental artists, and use their art to inspire art of our own.
Here is my planning sheet and final diorama that goes with the original unit. I've suggested planting trees/foliage along the banks to hold them into place with their roots.
